ceramics worldwide. The company’s Fine Ceramic Parts segment
offers information and telecommunication components, sapphire
substrates, semiconductor process equipment components, automotive
and ITS related components, and general industrial ceramic
components. Its Semiconductor Parts segment provides ceramic
packages for surface mount devices, ceramic multilayer packages,
metallized products, optical communication ceramic packages, and
organic multilayer packages. Kyocera’s Applied Ceramic Products
segment provides photovoltaic generating systems, solar
cells/modules, cutting tools, micro drills, dental and orthopedic
implants, and jewelry.
The company’s Electronic Device segment
offers ceramic chip and tantalum capacitors, timing devices,
voltage controlled oscillators, RF modules, ceramic
resonators/filters, thermal and LED printheads, amorphous silicon

insurance and travel agent businesses. Kyocera was founded in 1959
by Kazuo Inamori. It was formerly known as Kyoto Ceramic Kabushiki
Kaisha and changed its name to Kyocera Corporation in 1982.
