The company was founded in 1983. It was formerly known as Southwestern Bell Corp. and changed its name to SBC Communications, Inc. in 1995. Further, the company changed its name to AT&T, Inc. in November 2005, subsequent to the acquisition of AT&T Corp. The company is headquartered in San Antonio, Texas.
