Steve Burke: 2008 United States Presidential Race is Heating Up and History is Being Made

WASHINGTON, DC (NAMC) – Since U.S. President Bush was reelected the rumors began to fly as to who would run in 2008. Although there has been speculation there was no official word on the true contenders that would be throwing their hats in the arena. Of course there have been several Independent Candidates that made attempts to gain some early ground but as of this weekend some clarity has come to the race and Independent candidates more than likely will be overshadowed and overlooked.

So lets move away from the Indie scene as that is not where the meat of the 2008 race is, just this weekend New York Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton made it official, she will be running for office. This is not a shock as her agenda has been scripted going back to when her husband President Bill Clinton was in office. On the heels of Clinton’s announcement Kansas Senator Sam Brownback made it known that he is in the hunt.

We are in Mid January and you can expect more announcements of some prestigious names to join the party, New Mexico’s Governor Bill Richardson just recently jumped in, John Edwards is seeking the Democratic nod, and it is even possible that Former Governor of Massachusetts Mitt Romney may be in the running for the Republican nod.

But the two people that the nation is waiting to hear from are Illinois Senator Barack Obama, who has become a fan favorite in the Senate and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani.

Obama has put together a presidential exploratory committee, which could be a prelude to him jumping in the arena sooner than later. But with Senator Clinton in the mix he may be putting some serious thought in his next move and you can bet that it will be strategic. But the hype going into the 2008 race will sure raise the interest from the public in the next election.

The United States is changing, and the entrance of Senator Hilary Clinton and the possible entrance of Senator Obama and Rudy Giuliani will make this U.S. Presidential race the most interesting ever.

One big event that is also a making history is the Super Bowl, where you have the Chicago Bears and the Indianapolis Colts going head to head. But that is not the story, the historic part of this match-up is the fact that both head coaches are African American, Lovie Smith and Tony Dungy, two of the top coaches in the NFL made it to the big game and joined the ranks of other historic sports moments.

So the U.S. is changing, from sports to politics, and perhaps this will break down additional barriers and continue to give hope for those children through out America that are looking for that light, from Clinton to Obama, from Dungy to Smith, throw a dart at the board and you will find that anything is possible in America.
