Jan Wright : Professional Wrestling

LOS ANGELES, CA, (NAMC) - The world of wrestling has been dealt another blow this past Monday as Former "WWE" Wrestling Tag Team Champion Brian "Crush" Adams was found dead in his home in Tampa, Florida. The former young edition of the WWE's version of the Road Warriors known as "Demolition" was a headliner worldwide in the 1990's and last appeared on a WWE show in 2001.

Now this comes on the heels of the tragic murder-suicide of Chris Benoit, who killed his Wife, former professional wrestling manager known as "Woman" and his young son, then subsequently hanged himself in his home.

Most journalist will cover the high profile deaths that come out of the pro wrestling world but will pay little attention or no attention to the deaths that are not on the high end of the wrestling food chain. Most pro wrestlers start out on the independent wrestling scene unless they have some fame attached to them beforehand, but the typical direction for these aspirinig pro wrestling stars is the indy scene.

From coast to coast you will find little known indy wrestling organizations showcasing various talent perhaps once a month to the local wrestling fans. Granted most of these participants do not have delusions of grandure that they will one day be a "WWE" wrestler but those that do have this dream put their heart and soul into achieving this.

They work for almost no money and at times it does cost them money to peform at an event but its all in an effort to reach great heights in an arena that most outsiders will never fully understand. But wrestlers such as Chris Benoit, who started out in the Hart Training Camp in Calgary, Alberta Canada better known as the "Dungeon" run by the legendary Stu Hart and his famous family, worked up the ranks from the indy scene to super stardom.

There are many aspiring pro wrestlers that never had the opportunity to make it to the top, they had the talent but the door of opportunity never opened for them, and these stories you will rarely read about in the New York or Los Angeles Daily News or on The Associated Press.

The story of the life and death of one Indy Wrestler by the name of Marlon Kalkai better known as "Tiger Khan", who went to sleep one day and never woke up, this story never hit the headlines and slowly fizzled into the abyss. He passed away in his early 30's but wrestled since the age of 16 on a global scale. Wrestling with some of the top names in wrestling, his story is no different than that of Brian Adams or Chris Benoit, it just lacked the headline appeal for journalist.

But perhaps if the media told the stories of the deaths of individuals such as Marlon Kalkai, and shed some light on the lengths that some aspiring young wrestlers will go to perhaps, just perhaps, it would have a positive impact on those youngsters looking to put it all on the line for glory.

I felt compelled to write about this topic on this Tuesday morning after receiving several emails from various entertainment readers from around the world on this particular topic over the past several months.
