Justice Has Been Served in the 1964 Abduction and Murder of Two African-American Men

WASHINGTON, DC, (NAMC) - After almost 44 years the combined investigative efforts of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the U.S. Attorney's Office, and the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice has paid off as James Ford Seale has been handed down his sentence for his role in the 1964 abductions and eventual slayings of two African-American men.

The former member of the Ku Klux Klan was sentenced to three life prison terms for his part in the brutal 1964 slayings. He was convicted by a federal grand jury right in the heart of Mississppi on June 14, 2007. Their findings were that Seale along with their fellow Klansman did conspire to not only abduct but also to interrogate and beat the two 19 year olds, Henry Hezekiah Dee and Charlie Eddie Moore, which eventually led to their death.

Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales has this to say, "Though we can never replace loved ones or erase the terrible pain caused by crimes like this one, the deliverance of justice can offer comfort. Today's sentencing of James Ford Seale brings long-awaited resolution to the families of Henry Dee and Charlie Moore," he added, "This case is an outstanding example of our ongoing, vigilant efforts to prosecute racially-motivated crimes to the fullest extent of the law, regardless of how many years have passed."

Now Seale will spend the rest of his days in a prison cell, although justice was served almost thirty years later, at the very least the families of Henry Dee and Charlie Moore will finally have some type of closure knowing that justice was served.

Now based on reports and the actual evidence that was presented at trial, the jury did determine that on May 2, 1964, Seale and his accomplices did abduct Dee and Moore and drove the two 19 year old men into the Homochitto National Forest in Franklin County, Mississippi, where Klansmen proceeded to beat the victims, interrogate them at gunpoint, and bound the two men with duct tape.

Then the Klansmen drove the Dee and  Morre to Parker's Landing in Warren County, Mississippi, and secured the young men to heavy objects and threw them into the Old Mississippi River and drowned them.

As I said justice, although almost 44 years later, it was still served.
