XO Commmunications Statement on FCC Conditions for SBC/AT&T and Verizon/MCI Mergers

RESTON, VA, (NAMC) - XO Communications, Inc. (OTCBB:XOCM.OB) stated it is pleased that the Federal Communications Commission placed conditions on the mergers of SBC/AT&T and Verizon/MCI aimed at maintaining competition in the wholesale market, and thanked the Commissioners and their staff for their efforts to ensure ongoing choice and price competition for business customers.

The following statement is attributable to Heather Gold, XO's Senior Vice President, Government Relations:

"By helping safeguard competition in the wholesale market, today's decision by the FCC is an important victory for the competitive local telecom industry - and for millions of business customers.     "XO Communications appreciates the tremendous work of the FCC Commissioners and staff in reviewing these industry-transforming mergers, and the leadership of Chairman Martin in forging a 4 to 0 vote.

"XO is gratified that the Commissioners recognized the impact that these mergers would have on the competitive wholesale market. We thank the Commissioners and staff for their efforts to forge meaningful conditions designed to ensure ongoing customer choice and price competition for millions of small to medium business customers, and we hope that the FCC will vigorously enforce its actions so that these conditions are not hollow promises."
